NEW TALKER HOPES TO CAPITALIZE ON THE SUCCESS OF MAURY
CBS Television Distribution (CTD) has announced clearances for The Test, a one-hour daytime strip from Jay’s McGraw’s (The Doctor) Stage 29 Productions, in 56 percent of the country for a fall 2013 debut. Seven of the top 10 markets have been cleared, including New York/WPIX, Los Angeles/KLTA and Chicago/WGN.
Hosted by actor/comedian Kirk Fox (Parks and Recreation) and created as a result of the ongoing success of Maury from NBCUniversal, The Test is described as a conflict resolution talk show that will use lie detector and DNA tests to settle relationship and paternity disputes among the guests.
“We’re excited to extend and expand our relationships with Jay McGraw and Tribune with this new endeavor,” said Joe DiSalvo, president of sales at CTD. “The Test fills a growing niche in daytime television that the audience is really responding to. This strip is a great fit for stations looking to expand on their confrontational talk show blocks.”
