I expected more in the demo from TBBT, but however it is still enough for #1 show of the week. I hope for 0.2 or 0.3 adjustment in finals.

In a highly competitive time period versus CBS’s “Big Bang Theory,” Fox’s “Bones,” ABC’s “Wipeout” and CW’s “Vampire Diaries,” “30 Rock” finished #2 in the slot among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34 and men 18-34.

At 8:30 ET, “Parks and Recreation” (1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) delivered its biggest overall audience since October 6 and highest 18-49 rating since November 17. “Parks” built on its lead-in by 6 percent in 18-49 rating. “Parks and Recreation” improved on NBC’s average in this time period last season by 19 percent in 18-49 rating (1.9 vs. 1.6, “live plus same day,” non-sports) and 10 percent in total viewers (4.097 million vs. 3.737 million). Keep in mind that on average this season, original telecasts of “Parks” have been adding 34 percent to their next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 rating when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in “live plus seven day” ratings.

From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, “The Office” (2.9/7 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in by 53 percent in 18-49 and 43 percent in total viewers. “The Office” is #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-34, women 18-34 and all key adult-male demos in a competitive time period versus ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” CBS’s “Person of Interest” and Fox’s premiere of “The Finder.” Note that on average this season, “Office” originals have been adding 44 percent to their next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 rating when Nielsen reports additional time-shifted viewing in “live plus seven day” ratings.

The viewership was just ridiculous this week.

It now has officially eclipsed Two and a Half Men in both viewers and demo, so CBS might soon need to change its commercials.

Rob premiered very strongly. If it can keep it up the next several weeks CBS may have found its 8:30 show. The next few weeks will be critical for Rob’s future. It could be goodbye to Rules of Engagement.

What to take from THIS spin?

  • 8pm is a “highly competitive time period.”
  • 9pm is just a “competitive time.”
  • THE FIRM is dead meat and NBC cant even spin that mess.

As I said earlier in the week every sitcom skews older on Thursday for CBS. This is close to an all time high in viewers for BBT. If it put up these numbers on Monday its demo would have been close to a 6.0. Can’t figure it out, but every sitcom on Thursday for CBS skews much older than they do on Monday. That is why CBS should not move 2BG to Thursday. If 2BG gets the same 12-13 million viewers its gets now on Thursdays, and it skews older it will not be such a big hit.
