Wow Community held up better than I thought it would. 30 Rock losing lead in at 8:30 is all they should have to know that its time to close shop there. Up All Night was doomed the minute it joined the Thursday death ring.

Wow, The CW is in serious trouble. When a new episode of your highest rated show is getting less than 2.5 million, it’s time to start planning an exit strategy. And it looks like the NBC Thursday 10PM slot has claimed another victim.

Community has done better this spring that I predicted. It will definitely get renewed for a fourth season; it topped Whitney, 30 Rock, Chelsea, Up All Night and Bent this week.

That 62% retention basically spells the end for ROE. Rob could do about the same retention as that, and has more upside potential.

People are turning away from network TV in droves compared to last year. NBC’s a mess from top to bottom, but even AI is suffering badly — granted the numbers are still good, but they seem way down to me.

I didn’t think Touch was doing too bad, til I noticed it was up against repeats of The Office and Grey’s.

TV is me

From NBC

At 8 p.m. ET, “Community” (1.7/6 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) matched its second highest 18-49 rating since September 29, behind only the strong March 15 results for the first “Community” original in three months. Despite running for the first time this spring against an original telecast of CBS’s “Big Bang Theory,” while also facing Fox’s “American Idol” and ABC’s “Missing,” “Community” maintained its 18-49 rating of the prior Thursday. In the time period, “Community” is currently #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in men 18-34 ahead of Fox’s “American Idol” (with a 1.8 rating vs. “Idol’s” 1.6). Keep in mind that on average this season, original telecasts of “Community” have been adding 39 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” 18-49 ratings when Nielsen includes additional time-shifted viewing in “live plus seven day” results.

At 8:30 ET, “30 Rock” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall) matched its 18-49 rating of one week earlier in the highly competitive time period versus Fox’s “American Idol,” CBS’s “Rules of Engagement” and ABC’s “Missing.” “30 Rock” is currently tied for #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in men 18-34. Note that “30 Rock” originals have been adding 47 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results so far this season.

From 9-9:31 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of “The Office” delivered a 1.2/3 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall. This is the second highest 18-49 rating this season among six “Office” encores aired to date.

At 9:31 ET, “Up All Night” (1.3/4 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in from an “Office” encore by 8 percent in 18-49 rating and 14 percent in total viewers. Note that “Up All Night” originals have been adding 51 percent to these next-day “live plus same day” ratings when Nielsen issues “live plus seven day” results so far this season.

At 10 p.m. ET, “Awake” averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall. Note that “Awake” is one of the most time-shifted shows on television, with the “live plus same day” rating for its first two telecasts growing by 62 percent when Nielsen issued “live plus seven day” ratings for that week.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night:

· In Nielsen’s 56 metered markets, household results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 2.5/7; CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” 2.6/7; and ABC’s combo of “Nightline,” 2.9/7; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 1.4/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” 0.8/4; “Late Show,” 0.7/3; “Nightline,” 0.8/4; and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” 0.4/2.

At 12:35 a.m., “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” (1.4/5 in metered-market household) beat CBS’s “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” (1.3/5 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, “Late Night” (0.6/4 in 18-4) topped “Late Late Show” (0.4/3 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., “Last Call with Carson Daly” averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters

Community just sealed its renewal last night. Sure a 1.7 is nothing to brag about, but it held against The Big Bang Theory.

Up All Night, Awake, Missing, The Secret Circle (and maybe 30 Rock, depending on NBC’s love for the show) most likely sealed their fates for cancellation last night. If Off Their Rockers and BFF’s don’t hit, look for Whitney to return next season.

Missing has good total viewership, and a nice uptick in the half hour… but I think it will die a demo-related death. This show is kind of like ABC’s Harry’s Law… but with better demos. I don’t think they’ll renew it, it can’t be cheap.

losing lead in seriously from a 1.7 to a 1.5? this whole lineup sucks and I agree with Marc that roseanne’s comedy should lead off the night. Let the multiple posts arguing against that begin.
