NBC’s ‘Stanley Cup Final Game 5′ ended the night strongly with a 1.2 A18-49, indicative that interest is picking up in this match-up between the Los Angeles Kings (winner of three games) versus the New Jersey Devils (winner of two games). However, at the same time, NBC should have told the NHL it wanted Game 6 for tonight or held over to Wednesday as it is now bumping NBC’s Monday night lineup, its very best night of the week.

NHL ‘Stanley Cup Finals’ coverage on NBC continues Monday night with Game 6 of the series.

Everybody was watching ESPN on Saturday night so no surprise here but the positive for the Stanley Cup Finals is how the game lifted itself at 10:30pm. For the first time there’s no NBA competition for the series tomorrow night so the rating should be a lot higher.

SUNDAY 6/10/12 OVERNIGHTS

The Tony Awards Down Nine Percent Year-to-Year

Household
Rating/Share
CBS 5.1/ 9
NBC 3.7/ 6
ABC 3.3/ 6
Fox 1.8/ 3

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Sunday 6/12/11
NBC: +37, Fox: + 6, CBS: -11, ABC: -73

Note: ABC aired Game 6 of the NBA Finals on the year-ago evening.

———-

-Rating Results:
The home of The 66th Annual Tony Awards, CBS, led this second Sunday in June in the overnights, with a 38 percent advantage over second-place NBC. But the expected older skew of The Tony Awards means the competing networks will likely have an advantage among adults 18-49.

An encore telecast of granddaddy 60 Minutes opened the evening for CBS with a dominant 6.0 rating/12 share in the overnights at 7 p.m. That led into aforementioned The Tony Awards at a 4.8/ 8 from 8-11 p.m., which dipped by nine percent from the 5.3/ 8 on the year-ago evening. And that performance translated into 6.95 million viewers and a 1.2/ 3 among adults 18-49, based on the Live Plus Same Day ratings. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

The 66th Annual Tony Awards (CBS)
8:00 p.m.: 5.5/10 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 4.8/ 8 (#1t)
9:00 p.m.: 5.0/ 8 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 4.8/ 8 (#1)
10:00 p.m.: 4.4/ 7 (#1)
10:30 p.m.: 4.3/ 7 (#1)

For a complete listing of the Tony winners, click on the following: http://tinyurl.com/bqkrz53

On NBC, two-hours of Dateline scored a second-place 3.9/ 7 from 7-9 p.m., which led into two encore hours of overused America’s Got Talent at a 3.3/ 6 from 9-11 p.m.

Elsewhere, week two of the new summer season of Secret Millionaire on ABC finished third with a 3.6/ 6 in the overnights at 8 p.m. — eight percent below last week’s season-opener and up by 20 percent from an encore telecast of lead-in America’s Funniest Home Videos (#3: 3.0/ 6 at 7 p.m.). Next was week two of the sophomore season of Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition at a 3.4/ 6 from 9-11 p.m., which perked up by 10 percent from the week-ago season-opener (3.1/ 5 on 6/03/12). Here is the half-hour breakdown:

Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition (ABC)
9:00 p.m.: 3.2/ 5 (#2t)
9:30 p.m.: 3.3/ 5 (#2t)
10:00 p.m.: 3.4/ 6 (#2t)
10:30 p.m.: 3.6/ 6 (#2)

Last, and very least was Fox’s encore animated combination of American Dad (#4: 1.2/ 2), The Cleveland Show (#4: 1.3/ 2), The Simpsons (#4: 2.0/ 4), Bob’s Burgers (#4: 1.7/ 3), Family Guy (#4: 2.3/ 4) and another episode of American Dad (#4: 2.1/ 3).
