What follows is the fast affiliate rating results for Wednesday, August 15 broken out by network and half-hour in the order of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW.
DVR’d Oh Sit….Interesting concept in theory, but not the greatest thing in the world (it probably would be a better fit on a network like Comedy Central, MTV, or Spike)…
Nice comeback for BB- will be interesting to see what happens tonight…
The good news is CW actually got over 1 million in viewership for the first time in the summer for originals for Oh Sit! and kept the audience at the half (assuming that there isn’t any pre-emptions). It also avoided the 22% drop somehow that was reported previously at the half, preventing it from DOA levels. The bad news is the show was terrible and 1.2 million isn’t that good for a debut. I really question whether CW can debut anything to decent ratings as the competition wasn’t that strong.

In series-premiere news, game show Oh Sit! on The CW disappointed with a very last-place finish in both total viewers (1.26 million) and adults 18-49 (0.5/ 2) at 8 p.m.
If that’s a disappointment, what in the world were you expecting it to do???
Looks like phase two of the CDub summer is off to a better start than phase one, at least.

Oh Sit! surprisingly didn’t end up arriving DOA. I don’t think CW should have expected it to start any better and it certainly exceeded my expectations.
That being said, it’s a shame CW didn’t put a stronger show in the summer. If they can only get 1 million to watch in August, it’s going to be very hard even to get 2 million to show up in October when the fall shows debut.

Whoever is evicted tonight, I’ll be fine with it. I’m a fan of neither nominee. Most signs point to a Wil eviction.
But more depressing is this scene from late night on Tuesday. Frank downplayed it to Ian because Ian would be devastated seeing Ashley and Frank here:
Then, onto late night last night, the house delved into scintillating X-rated discussions – unfortunately, this was AFTER Showtime’s window. From the descriptions, Ashley seemed titillated, so to speak.
I’m an Ian fan so I have less respect for Frank not honoring the man code.

What is going on with So you think you can dance? Do you think it will be renewed?
Ratings are nowhere near what it used to be, even as recently as two years ago. But since it still propels FOX for a victory in the all-important 18-49 demographic, I think it will eke out a 10th season. Unless FOX airs X Factor next summer, which they won’t, I don’t think they have another hit show in the works to replace SYTYCD.
Considering their so-so ratings for the Thursday dating shows this summer, perhaps it’s best that FOX bring back the results shows on Thursdays next year. It won’t do any worse than what they had there this year. The end to each live Wednesday show this season seems very awkward.

What is going on with So you think you can dance? Do you think it will be renewed?
I’m continuing to watch with So You Think You Can Dance but it’s a really boring season. None of the dancers really stands out and not having a results show is actually making the season feel more rushed and forced. In my opinion, this is a format change that doesn’t seem to be working.
Last year, according to TVSeriesFinale, So You Think You Can Dance’s ratings were:
Over the summer, season eight’s competition episodes averaged a 2.3 in the 18-49 demographic and 6.39 million viewers. The So You Think You Can Dance results shows averaged a 2.2 demo rating with 6.36 million viewers.
For comparison, this year season average so far is:
Season averages: 2.23 in the demo with 6.15 million updated on July 27th and not including the most recent rating.
So overall, it’s only down slightly and while ratings have fallen in recent weeks, if the show can rebound closer to te 2.2 demo average, I’d guess that FOX keeps it for one more season. I don’t think The Choice or Take Me Out will return. FOX does have Hotel Hell, MasterChef, and Hell’s Kitchen that will likely return along with Kitchen Nightmares but only two should be in the summer to prevent overexposure. There’s also the FOX comedy project in the summer. So there’s definately room for So You Think You Can Dance.
