Those 7 PM ratings for America’s Funniest Home Videos are terrible. 7:30 PM had a better bounce, but as I wrote last year to much debate, the series needs to be benched as the signs last year were all there for it’s lackluster performance. ABC hesitated too long on this timeslot. Once Upon A Time is still doing well and is the bright spot for Sundays. Revenge took a hit this week with a 0.6 loss this week. To continue my comment from last week, this was not a series that should have been moved from Wednesdays. It was too premature and the ratings are starting to reflect it. 666 Park Avenue is dead. Right now, it’s a competition of first pulled on ABC: The Neighbors, Last Resort, or 666 Park Avenue. Unless all three improve, I can’t see any lasting past 13 episodes.
Over at CBS, the network was timeshifted, but even with that factored in, The Good Wife and The Mentalist are doing terrible in their timeslots. CBS probably had modest expectations going in, but I don’t think that they anticipated a complete collapse. The Amazing Race is doing better considering everything but it is also looking a bit lackluster.
FOX is basically The Simpsons and Family Guy surrounded by modest performers. A 2.2 is decent for 7:30 for The Cleveland Show and FOX will probably be content with that for now in a low priority timeslot. Bob’s Burgers is more concerning.
First, I want to say hello to everyone on here and give a special thank you and greeting to Marc Berman for having this site and giving us all the wonderful opportunity to discuss tv ratings in a cordial manner.
A few things I see from these numbers…
1. As usual, we need to wait for the final adjustments to see how everything on CBS did but I don’t expect that much of a change for The Good Wife/The Mentalist. Those two are really going to continue hurting CBS Sunday.
2. A surprising drop for OUAT results in a less than surprising but still disappointing drop for REVENGE. I know OUAT will be fine but I am a bit concerned about the long term prospects for REVENGE. 666 Park Avenue is even more DOA than it was last week.
Fox should just as well wait to launch the Cleveland Show until after football is over. It appears that one may be on its last legs. Not good results for Bob’s either, which is too bad, since its consistently been one of the funnier cartoons on Sunday nights.
If you think 666 Park is going to get pulled, don’t bet on it. It was just .1 behind the Mentalist and beat the Good Wife head to head. Now if it continues to fall, that’s another story.
ABC had respectable results for the 7-10pm lineup. CBS should consider shipping the Mentalist to Fridays in place of Made in Jeresey and just air repeats in the 10pm hour for now. They could relaunch Undercover Boss in January on this night.
Hey Franky…welcome to the forum! Personally, I am disappointed with Revenge on ABC…expected better.

It also wasn’t a particularly strong night for football so the overall drop is surprising. I believe some more cable shows premiered last night. Looks like Revenge lost some of its older viewers to Good Wife at 930 as the demo remained the same (possibly younger AR viewers flipped over to Revenge?)

Does ABC have anything to replace 666 Park Avenue? It’s not going to last long at this rate.
If they didn’t move Revenge, they could have had Nashville for that timeslot. But as it stands, they really don’t have an option. They have Zero Hour and Red Widow, but both will need promotional time and neither are shows that ABC can really rush on air.
That being said, the option that I would have chosen, if I was scheduling ABC, would have been Dancing with the Stars from 9 to 11 PM. That would have solved the two hour problem on Sundays while allowing ABC to focus on Mondays.

I don’t think ABC had much of an option with the REVENGE move. If you think about it, premiering NASHVILLE there while also launching a new drama at 10 (666 PARK AVENUE) would have been very difficult. At least with REVENGE, they knew what they were getting. And while a 2.6 is nothing to go crazy over, it sure as heck beats having a dead show at 9 and at 10. At least they have two somewhat bright spots on Sunday to compete with football and FOX.

Man you really have it in for ABC don’t you? Let’s start with AFV. Those results are as good as ABC is going to get in this hour without moving a big hit there. They wouldn’t get better results with Extreme Makeover, Wife Swap, or even Shark Tank. It stays afloat against football and usually comes close or wins the hour in the demo in the winter/spring….Revenge is doing the same as it was last year in the Wednesday slot. They needed a show for this hour and didn’t want 2 brand new hours from 9 to 11. The Revenge move made sense and its doing about what Housewives was doing. To not lose is a plus in this TV landscape. Agree on 666 Park Ave. It was boring, but their other newcomers have yet to show they’re going to get pulled in my opinion. Last Resort is in ABC’s death slot and I think they’ll give it time. The Neighbors is probably too early to tell. This week with Modern Family at 9 and not a debate will be a telling sign. Honestly, of all the ABC shows, I’m most disappointed with DWTS and Scandal. Dancing is dying demographically and Scandal is wasting the Greys lead in. ABC has their issues for sure, but I actually think they’re doing better compared to expectations than CBS or Fox. I think a lot of people thought X Factor would rebound (it didn’t) and CBS’s shows are getting long in tooth. If NBC knew how to schedule, they’d really have a lead. Fortunately for the other nets, their Thursdays remain a disaster and they have holes on Wednesdays and Fridays.
