Parenthood continues tremendous growth from its lead in. If NBC cancels the series, they will be making a big mistake. The numbers aren’t huge, but they are very solid.

There’s no way NBC is going to cancel Parenthood when it wins its timeslot week in and week out. I have a feeling they’ll really see the strength of Parenthood once Smash starts

New Girl is really disappointing but it still does skew young. FOX has really botched it with this comedy block and it’s hurting a show that had (and still has) tons of potential. I’m surprised to see it go down this week because I thought last week’s episode was hilarious! I do think since it’s SUCH a young adult appeal, it probably suffers more than most from time shifted and online viewing

Casting for new Michael J. Fox comedy, I hope they convert it to multi-cam

Wow Private Practice is going out so quietly. I doubt the finale will top a 1.5 demo. ABC only gave the final episode a 15 second promo, rather than 30. I never watched the show, but it’s interesting how quickly it went from semi-popular to sub 4 million viewers.

Its rating stink. What a waste of the Grey’s lead in. It completely collapsed without Grey’s. Scandal might have had some of the highest retention any show has had ever from Grey’s last week.

These ratings are poetic justice for a series that was something of a ghost. Essentially, Grey’s spun off a character, not a show. Kate Walsh, who i found interesting in Grey’s, had an ordinary presence basically in her own show. There were some good supporting performances, but also some very stiff and pretentious ones.

New Girl typically had a higher demo rating than Glee so being “propped up by Glee” is about only 50% true really. FOX needs to re-think this 2 hour comedy block fast.

New Girl went from 4.8 to 2.2 in one season, maybe it was never big demo player that FOX needed, look at 2BG ratings this season, low 4s with 3.7 lead-in and less competition.

For the second week in a row, Fox’s quiet “Raising Hope” comes within 0.3 of a demographic ratings point of the network’s favored comedy “New Girl”…and actually beats it outright in total viewers (I hope the victory is confirmed in the final ratings). Despite its sophomore slump, I don’t believe that “New Girl” was ever going to be anything but an “Office”-esque demo hit because it is too niche…and I personally find star Zooey Deschanel more annoying than funny, and not annoying in a good way. Personally, I think that “Hope” is the funniest comedy on broadcast network television right now, and that includes the over-hyped “Big Bang Theory”.

I watched Raising Hope last night (for the first time in over a year) and I thought it was hilarious. I think I’m going to add it back onto my DVR list beginning with next weeks episode. I don’t think it is better than The Big Bang Theory, but it is one of the better comedies on television.

Cougar Town suffered a minor slip last night: 2.02 million viewers and a 1.0 demo. Retention from The Big Bang Theory was 55% in total viewers and 63% in the demo; a tad worse among total viewers, but a bit better in the demo compared to last week.

Week two* for other TBS original sitcoms:
Men at Work – 2.05 million, 1.0 demo
Sullivan and Son – 2.48 million, 0.9 demo

*Technically episode three, but occurred during week two.

NCIS was adjusted up a tenth to a 3.9 demo and to 22.86 million viewers. I have the previous record at 22.85 (per TVbytheNumbers source found on wikipedia) but both Deadline and TVLine are reporting the record is 22.87 million. Either way, kudos to NCIS for this huge performance.
