Wonder if there were any top market pre-emptions or did the repeats help Nikita? Although it may have picked up a tenth because of Fringe being over.

Fringe being over wouldnt affect Nikita. Nikita airs at 8pm and Fringe aired at 9pm. The repeats helped rise Nikita this week. Agaisnt full competition it will go back to 0.4 again.

Isn’t that a Nikita season high? Though it will probably trend back to where it has been next week. Nikita still does better than 90210 in overall audience despite being on Friday if anybody wants something positive to look at for the CW network

Glad Kitchen Nightmares is up this week too!

WOW! Look at Nikita, that has to be the highest rating no doubt about it of the season and the biggest since last season. I remember starting out the year last year Nikita actually was over 1.5 million and got around 0.4-0.6s regularly. The CW made a really good decision moving the show back up to 8pm. Like I mentioned earlier in the week, the network has a bit of a disconnect in that 9pm hour probably because the affiliates usually boost the 8pm shows with their high-rated syndicated comedies like BBT, Friends, and Two and a Half Men.

I think The CW should start back repeating Beauty and the Beast on Fridays at 9pm for the rest of the season and move the show there this fall. Does Cult have a timeslot yet?

Although the networks were in repeats I did want to talk about the comedies at 8pm since I thought it was interesting how well the ABC comedies and Off Their Rockers repeated. Both networks got 4-5 million viewers with what’s become regular demos for comedies these days when their in repeats during the season. Off Their Rockers is becoming one hell of a utility player for NBC and every network needs a utility player. I think NBC really should use Off Their Rockers to boost Whitney/Guys with Kids so that they can become a little stronger heading into the next season and really develop the growth of the multi-cams on the comedy roster for the network.

Next season will be interesting for NBC because they’ve actually been sort of solid with their repeats all year at 8pm on Fridays. I think there’s enough room for the network to program comedies on the night. I would totally put Guys with Kids and Up All Night there. The question becomes rather or not NBC leaves Grimm there on Fridays because moving it is a risky move. I’m not sure if they will move SVU since that’s working on Wednesdays and has really helped Chicago Fire become the top new shows of the season outside of Elementary.

For ABC I’m wondering if the network will move 20/20 to Saturdays since they seem to be testing that and this may allow them to move Shark Tank to 10pm since I already know their expanding the comedies to two hours next season.

Last but not least is FOX and I think they really need to find out what works for them on Fridays because its been a historical struggle for them. I think they should think about programming sports on the night in the futue like they did on Saturdays which really worked for them.

Nikita’s increase is most likely due to everything being in repeats except for FOX. Kitchen Nightmares shouldn’t share that much of an audience with Nikita. Touch is a different story, as I could see a lot of audience overlap.

I think that the bigger picture is that with absolutely no competition, CW could only get a 0.5 out of an original airing. That’s not great and basic cable networks does better with original programming on Fridays. Something has to change as even with limited programming options, people aren’t watching CW on Fridays (or Mondays or Tuesdays etc.)

Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? and Don’t Forget The Lyrics did decently for FOX on Fridays. I think that FOX had the right idea with game shows here and for some reason, they decided to get rid of the idea. I don’t think that FOX has any game shows in development either.

Out of what they have on schedule and in development, I think that if any network were to try comedies on Fridays, FOX should be the network. ABC’s TGIF revival produced modest results at best and comedies are an odd fit out of what NBC is likely to program later in the evening. However, with FOX, they could try to craft out a comedy block and then figure out what to do with Tuesdays as the comedies aren’t working.
