One good thing ABC can take from today was the .4 rise from last week for Revenge. I was thinking if it didn’t have a .4 bump or higher then Revenge was going to be done. Once is not strong as it used to be but regardless it is still stable and up a bit.
CBS just killed The Mentalist as well as The Good Wife. Both I see are going to be gone after this season.
Hour scripted dramas on Broadcast TV are dead on Sundays…. Lousy scheduling and sub-par writing are driving people to the Cable dramas and PBS….
Shows like Revenge, Once, and The Mentalist which even a couple of months back look like sure winners are now struggling. Both ABC and CBS have only themselves to blame.
Oh, man am I pumped about THE AMAZING RACE…not only did it beat shooting star ONCE UPON A TIME but can anyone confirm that it TIED or maybe even BEAT the premier of SURVIVOR this year? If it did so that would be an amazing thing since CBS has always treated TAR like a red headed step child…the early days of shuffling it around to horrible slots like TUESDAY at 10PM and Saturdays…and the every season insult of NOT giving it a REUNION show like SURVIVOR!
Although airing a mix of first-run and repeat programming against all-original competition on CBS (with the Amazing Race opener) and Fox, ABC was competitive for the Sunday night lead in Adults 18-49. It was essentially a 3-way tie for #1 on the night, with each net drawing the same share and just a tenth of a rating point separating the three.
Please Note: On the holiday weekend Sunday, overall Adult 18-49 TV usage levels were down by -6% from the prior week (38.3 vs. 40.6).
During the 7 o’clock hour, ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos ranked #1 in Adults 18-49.
At 8pm opposite the season premiere of CBS’ Amazing Race, ABC’s Once Upon a Time was up week to week in Total Viewers (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+5%). From 8-9pm, Once Upon a Time ran neck-and-neck with Amazing Race for the Adult 18-49 lead (pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point and tied in audience share) and won the hour with key Women (W18-34/W18-49).
During 9pm hour, ABC’s Revenge built week to week in Total Viewers (+15%) and Adults 18-49 (+29%) to its best numbers since January 13, 2013. ABC sophomore Revenge beat out CBS’ The Good Wife in the hour by 29% in Adults 18-49, outdelivering the CBS drama on every original matchup this season.
During the 10 o’clock hour, a repeat of the Zero Hour pilot episode from Thursday picked up an additional 3.1 million viewers, bringing its 2-telecast Live + Same Day total to 9.4 million viewers sampling the new ABC drama.
