-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS maintained Tuesday leadership, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49 care of its combination of NCIS (Viewers: #1, 20.31 million; A18-49: #1, 4.1 rating/11 share – most-watched show of the evening), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (Viewers: #1, 15.59 million; A18-49: #1, 3.4/ 8) and recent entry Unforgettable (Viewers: #1, 11.62 million; A18-49: #1, 2.4/ 7). Comparably, older-skewing Unforgettable remains down slightly from year-ago occupant The Good Wife.
On Fox, three-year-old Glee has sprung a leak with the year-to-year losses as follows:
Glee (Fox)
11/09/10 – Viewers: 10.99 million, A18-49: 4.6/13
11/08/11 – Viewers: 6.90 million, A18-49: 3.1/ 8
Percent Change – Viewers: -37, A18-49: -33
As predicted, the “too much too soon” syndrome is taking its toll. New Girl on Fox at 9 p.m. still won the 9 p.m. half-hour (tied with NCIS: Los Angeles) at a 3.5/ 9 in the demo and a third-place 6.80 million viewers. But compared to its highly touted debut on Sept. 21 (Viewers: 10.28 million; A18-49: 4.8/12), this was a loss of 3.48 million viewers and 27 percent in the demo.
Raising Hope at 9:30 p.m. dropped the ratings ball, unfortunately, with 4.62 million viewers (#4) and a 2.1/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#4) at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, that put retention out of New Girl of a modest 68 percent in total viewers and 60 percent in the demo.
Over at ABC, week five of sitcom Last Man Standing, which was just picked up for the remainder of the season, was on the map with 9.21 million viewers (#2) and a 2.6/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3) at 8 p.m. But week four of lead-out Man Up! dipped to 6.22 million viewers (#4) and a 1.7/ 5 in the demo (#4) at 8:30 p.m. Comparably, that put retention out of Last Man Standing of 68 percent in total viewers and 65 percent among adults 18-49 in the higher HUT level 8:30 p.m. time period.
The live Dancing With the Stars Show on ABC at 9 p.m., of course, picked up plenty of steam with 14.85 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 2.7/ 7 in the demo. But 10 p.m. special In the Spotlight With Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville lost noticeable steam with 8.64 million viewers (#2) and a last-place 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49.
Elsewhere, The Biggest Loser on NBC rose to a season-high 6.81 million viewers (#3) and a 2.4/ 6 in the demo (#3t) from 8-10 p.m.
The Biggest Loser (NBC)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.65 million (#4), A18-49: 2.2/ 6 (#4)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.81 million (#4), A18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#3)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 6.62 million (#4), A18-49: 2.3/ 6 (#4)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 7.15 million (#3), A18-49: 2.6/ 6 (#3)
And that led into Parenthood with a typical 5.33 million viewers (#3) and a second-place 2.0/ 6 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m.
The CW capped off the evening with its low-rated combination of 90210 (Viewers: #5, 1.55 million; A18-49: #5, 0.8/ 2) and recently introduced Ringer (Viewers: #5, 1.69 million; A18-49: #5, 0.7/ 2), which has not benefited from the added encore exposure in recent weeks.
