-Ratings Breakdown:
The 45th Annual CMA Awards led ABC to a solid victory, with 16.32 million viewers and a 4.8 rating/12 share among adults 18-49 from 8-11 p.m. Comparably, that was right on track with the 16.49 million viewers and the 4.7/13 in the demo on the year-ago evening. Here is the half-hour overnight breakdown:
The 45th Annual CMA Awards
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 16.37 million (#1), A18-49: 4.4/12 (#1)

ABC and the Country Music Association have extended their broadcast agreement through 2021, which includes the CMA Awards, the CMA Festival: Country’s Night to Rock and the CMA Country Christmas.
On Fox, two-hours of The X Factor finished third overall in total viewers, with 10.14 million viewers; and second among adults 18-49 with a healthy 3.7/10 in the demo. Compared to two episodes of Hell’s Kitchen on the year-ago evening (Viewers: 5.70 million; A18-49: 2.6/ 7 on 11/10/10), this was an increase of a hefty 5.44 million viewers and 42 percent among adults 18-49. Here is the half-hour breakdown:
The X Factor (Fox)
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 9.61 million (#3), A18-49: 3.4/10 (#2)
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 10.09 million (#3), A18-49: 3.7/10 (#2)
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 10.42 million (#3), A18-49: 3.9/10 (#2)
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 10.44 million (#3), A18-49: 4.0/10 (#2)
While The X Factor is not American Idol, it certainly has earned its recently announced renewal.
Over at CBS, perennial Survivor: South Pacific was on the map last night with 10.60 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 3.1/ 9 among adults 18-49, which was close to the year-ago edition in Nicaragua. But two tribal councils in one hour were completely rushed, with the big moment of the season (the reaction to Cochran’s flipping) barely visible. Next on the Eye net was underrated Criminal Minds (Viewers: #2, 11.31 million; A18-49: #3, 3.4/ 8 at 9 p.m.), followed by relocated CSI at a second-place finish in both total viewers (10.08 million) and adults 18-49 (2.5/ 7) at 10 p.m. Compared to failed year-ago occupant The Defenders (Viewers: 8.40 million; A18-49: 1.8/ 5 on 10/10/10), veteran CSI built by 1.68 million viewers and 39 percent in the demo. The question CBS will need to face this spring, of course, is if all three editions of CSI are worthy of another season.
On NBC, freshman sitcom Up All Night opened with a modest (and fourth-place) 4.79 million viewers and a 1.8/ 5 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. A repeat of Up All Night followed with 3.51 million viewers (#4) and a 1.2/ 3 in the demo (#4) at 8:30 p.m. My personal suggestion to NBC would be to move the still potentially promising half-hour into the Thursday 8 p.m. anchor position (where current occupant Community remains a clinker).
Older-skewing Harry’s Law on NBC perked up to 7.05 million viewers (#4) at 9 p.m., but results among adults 18-49 were still lacking at a 1.3/ 3 (#4). Tired Law & Order: SVU capped off the evening with 6.64 million viewers (#3) and a 1.9/ 5 in the demo (#3) at 10 p.m. Year-ago occupant Law & Order: Los Angeles was similar at 6.80 million viewers and a 1.7/ 5 among adults 18-49 on 11/10/10.
A repeat of Ringer on The CW (Viewers: #5, 983,000; A18-49: #5, 0.4/ 1) led into 1.65 million viewers (#5) and a 0.7/ 2 among adults 18-49 (#5) for long in the tooth reality/competition America’s Next Top Model at 9 p.m. One year earlier, Top Model, which is taking a break this spring, was notably stronger at 2.69 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 in the demo at 8 p.m. on 11/10/10.
