CBS led this final Monday of 2011 with a first-place finish in every half-hour care of its encore combination of How I Met Your Mother (#1, 3.7 rating/6 share), 2 Broke Girls (#1: 4.1/ 7), Two and a Half Men (5.3/ 9), Mike& Molly (4.8/ 8) and Hawaii Five-O (3.6/ 6). Comparably, the Eye net outdelivered second-place NBC by a hefty 56 percent. NBC opened with week two of game show Who’s Still Standing? (#2: 3.6/ 6 at 8 p.m.), followed by a repeat of Fear Factor (#2: 2.3/ 4) and newsmagazine Rock Center With Brian Williams (#3: 2.2/ 4) from 9-11 p.m. As a reminder, Rock Center With Brian Williams moves to Wednesdays at 9 p.m. in February out of new sitcom Are You There Yet, Chelsea?
Elsewhere, ABC populated the evening with repeat holidays special Rudolph’s Shiny New Year (#3: 2.1/ 3), failing game show You Deserve It (#3: 2.2/ 4) and a repeat of Castle (#2: 2.9/ 5). Fox aired back-to-back encore telecasts of fading House (#4: avg. 2.0/ 3 from 8-10 p.m.). And The CW capped it off with little known theatrical The Education of Charlie Banks (#5: 0.7/ 1). Needless to say, do not expect any stellar ratings this week.
Looking ahead, the upcoming season of ABC’s The Bachelor begins next Monday, Jan. 2 from 8-10 p.m., leading into a preview of Celebrity Wife Swap at 10 p.m. Upcoming Fox drama Alcatraz opens with a two-hour installment on Monday, Jan. 16. One week later it airs Mondays at 9 p.m. out of relocated House at 8 p.m. Alcatraz features guards from the famous prison who mysteriously reappear in present day to help a team of FBI agents track down the disappearance of a group of prisoners 30 years earlier. Sam Neill and Jorge Garcia star.
