Country-themed variety hour Hee Haw debuted on CBS in 1969. After the Eye net canceled it in 1971 during the “rural purge,” Hee Haw shifted to first-run syndication and remained there through 1993. Also on this day in 1984 was the final episode of late night talker Thicke of the Night, hosted by Alan Thicke, which came and quickly went opposite The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, and Bob Barker’s final appearance as host of The Price is Right in 2007.
