HOW LAST NIGHT’S SINGERS FARED IN DIGITAL DOWNLOADS

Unlike its singing competition counterpart “American Idol”, NBC’s “The Voice” also factors in votes via downloaded songs from Apple’s iTunes.

An “iTunes Bonus” will be implemented if any of the artists’ eligible songs (which were performed live on April 21) are in the top 10 of the iTunes “Top 200 Singles Chart” at the close of the episode’s applicable voting window (from 5 minutes prior to the conclusion of the live performance episode until 12 noon Eastern the following day). If an artist should achieve such an accomplishment, their iTunes votes that evening will be multiplied by five (5).

The Voice Season 6

Here are how the performances from “The Voice” ranked on the All-Genres chart on iTunes, as of April 22, 2014 at 11:59 a.m. EDT:

RANK TEAM PERFORMER SONG
5 * Usher Josh Kaufman “Stay with Me”
30 Shakira Kristen Merlin “Stay”
39 Blake Jake Worthington “Anymore”
47 Adam Christina Grimmie “Dark Horse”
99 Adam Kat Perkins “Magic Man”
104 Blake Sisaundra Lewis “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me”
114 Blake Audra McLaughlin “Angel of the Morning”
124 Adam Delvin Choice “Unchained Melody”
134 Usher Bria Kelly “Rolling in the Deep”
179 Shakira Tess Boyer “I’ll Be There for You”
289 Usher T.J. Wilkins “Waiting on the World to Change”
302 Shakira Dani Moz “Just Give Me a Reason”

Other chart notes:

  • * Because his rendition of “Stay With Me” reached into the iTunes Top Ten, Josh Kaufman is the only contestant of the twelve (12) who performed on Apr. 21 to have his or her votes (for that song alone) via iTunes downloads multiplied by five (5).

  • Songs from previous episodes of “The Voice” that were still on the iTunes Top 400 included: Christina Grimmie “I Won’t Give Up” (Adam, #148), Josh Kaufman “It Will Rain” (Usher, #175), Kat Perkins “Open Arms” (Adam, #374), Bria Kelly “Wild Horses” (Usher, #380), Josh Kaufman “One More Try” (Usher, #389).

Shakira screwed Tess by expecting her to sing a powerhouse male song. If she didn’t like her why pick her. The dumbest decision I have seen on the Voice. Even Idol judges aren’t that dumb.
