July 16, 2012 by marcberman in Highlights with 0 Comments

BEST COMPETITIVE POSITION IN 17 YEARS

Ann Curry is out, Savannah Guthrie is in, and The Today Show on NBC is now trailing Good Morning America on ABC by 360,000 viewers — GMA’s largest margin of victory in more than 17 years (since the week of May 15, 1995). Based on the Fast National Preliminary Live + Same Day data from Nielsen, GMA averaged 4.57 million viewers for the week of July 9 (versus 4.21 million for Today), with its most number of single day wins (4 out of 5) during the course of a week also in 17 years. Today did lead among key adults 25-54 (Today: 1.711 million, GMA: 1.709 million), but GMA delivered its most competitive performance in the demo since the week of Sept. 11, 1995.
