SUMMER 2012 OLYMPICS POISED TO BREAK THE RECORD BOOKS
It is a slam-dunk for NBC. Based on the Live Plus Same Day results from Nielsen for the first 11 days of The London Olympics (July 27-August 7), the Peacock net is reporting a total reach of 202.6 million viewers, to-date, across the networks of NBCUniversal. At present, the 2008 Beijing Games holds the record for the most-watched event in U.S. television history with 215 million viewers. Each night is averaging 33.1 million viewers in primetime, which is the most of any non-U.S. Summer Olympics since the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The 33.1 million is 3.5 million more than Beijing and 6.9 million more than Athens.
