Disney-ABC Domestic Television wanted to keep the announcement of Kelly Ripa’s new co-host on veteran morning talker Live! a surprise. But work leaked and apparently it is official. Michael Strahan, a frequent guest co-host, will officially assume the position on September 4. And, no, Regis Philbin is not coming back.
Ripa has been without a permanent co-host since Philbin exited last November. And former football great Stahan is expected to keep his current role as a commentator on Fox NFL Sunday.
