Jersey Shore Ending After Six Seasons on MTV

ICONIC CABLE REALITY SERIES AND FAMED GUILTY PLEASURE ENTERS ITS FINAL SEASON

Today, MTV announced that the upcoming sixth season of its hugely popular reality series, “Jersey Shore” will be its last. Its final season premiere airs Thursday, October 4th at 10pm Eastern and Pacific.

Prior to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, September 6th, MTV will feature an all-day marathon of “Jersey Shore” episodes, beginning at 11am Eastern and Pacific. A retrospective entitled “Gym, Tan, Look Back”, airs at 6pm Eastern and Pacific. Then, at 7pm Eastern and Pacific, members of the “Jersey Shore” cast – Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jennifer “JWOWW” Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Samantha Giancola, Vinny Guadagnino and Deena Nicole Cortese – will appear on the Video Music Awards Pre-Show red carpet to discuss the show’s final season.

Following its sixth season premiere on October 4th, MTV will air bonus “Jersey Shore” programming at 11pm Eastern and Pacific, such as “Jersey Shore After Hours” and a reunion special.

According to Nielsen Media Research, “Jersey Shore” is the highest rated series ever in MTV’s history and has been the top cable series among viewers aged from 12 thru 34 for all five of its previous seasons. The series also has been a huge hit internationally, particularly in Australia, Denmark, Singapore, Spain, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Poland, Ireland, Belgium and Sweden.

It has spun off two other moderately successful reality series for MTV, “The Pauly D Project” and “Snooki & JWOWW.”
