STRUGGLING CABLE NET TO ENTER THE WORLD OF SCRIPTED COMEDIES

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network has announced a deal with the multi-talented Tyler Perry that will make the two-year-old cable network his singular destination for all new television series and projects. Included will be two new scripted series, the first for OWN, which Perry will executive produce, write and direct. Perry, of course, is the creator of TBS comedies Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, Meet the Browns and For Better or Worse.
“I have been looking forward to the day when we would be in the position to enter the world of scripted television. That day has come,” said Oprah Winfrey, CEO, OWN. “We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series. He has an incredible ability to illuminate life stories and characters in his unique voice and inspires and encourages people all over the world.”

Really Oprah?? You had a chance to get into scripted television with a fan base in the millions with All My Children and One Live to Live, but, you chose to look the other way and then were nasty about and we will too. We are NOT watching you and WE WILL NEVER watch any of your shows. You will continue to lose money and eventually OWN will sink into oblivion. It will happen, it’s already happening.
