GREY’S ANATOMY SPIN-OFF TO EXIT IN JANUARY
As expected, ABC has officially canceled Shonda Rhimes drama Private Practice, which was spun-off from Grey’s Anatomy on September 26, 2007. The network ordered an abbreviated 13 episodes this fall, series star Kate Walsh announced she would be exiting after this season, and co-star Tim Daly received his walking papers last spring. Originally positioned after Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday, Private Practice shifted to Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on April 17 in place of Rhimes’ latest drama, Scandal.
“There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line,” said Rhimes in a statement. “Creatively, we are all extremely proud of the show and especially proud of this season – which you will all soon discover is a creative renaissance.”
Private Practice will conclude after 111 episodes.
