THE EYE NET WINS; THE VOICE LIFTS NBC
CBS remained in the winner’s circle care of its regularly scheduled line-up of The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Person of Interest and recent entry Elementary, which has snagged the coveted Super Bowl XLVII lead-out spot on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Red-hot The Big Bang Theory at 8 p.m., in particular, rose to an all-time high in total viewers (with a season high among adults 18-49).
The Voice, meanwhile, gave NBC some traction on this night for the first time this season with a competitive 9.09 million viewers and a 3.0 rating/9 share among adults 18-49 (#2 in both categories), according to the fast affiliate results from Nielsen, in the 8 p.m. hour. And that lifted soon-to-conclude lead-out The Office to a season high 5.31 million viewers (#4) and a 2.5/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3 – tied with Glee on Fox) at 9 p.m. Parks and Recreation at 9:30 p.m. was also above average, but the double-digit percent losses from The Office did not (as usual) bode well for older-skewing lead-out Rock Center With Brian Williams.
Elsewhere, freshman dramas Last Resort on ABC and Beauty and the Beast on The CW did not impress; veteran The Vampire Diaries on The CW and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC still deliver; The X Factor on Fox cannot compete with The Vice; and the new class on Fox’s Glee mirrors classic drama The White Shadow. Viewers just do not care about the newbie students.
