More Growth for General Hospital on ABC

November 26, 2012 by marcberman in Highlights with 7 Comments

NEW LIFE FOR THE VETERAN DAYTIME SERIAL AT AGE 50

Based on the Live Plus Same Day data from Nielsen for the week of November 12, 50 year-old daytime serial General Hospital has settled in well at 2 p.m. ET with a rise of 18 percent in total viewers (2.37 to 2.81 million). A good portion of that growth stemmed from the significant 55 percent increase among women 18-34 (177,000 to 275,000), which was a two year high. Results among women 18-49 (697,000) and women 25-54 (863,000), meanwhile, were up by 10 percent and three percent, respectively.

Compared to year-ago time period occupant One Life to Live, General Hospital increased by six percent in total viewers and as much as 30 percent among women 18-34.

    Marc,

If I’m reading this wrong, I apologize. While the year-to-years for GH can’t be questioned-GH in total held steady from last week, true?

Your questions are so ridiculous that even Marc doesn’t want to answer them.

Why, oh why do you even bother-you know that we soapers are on the right side of the argument here. I was asking Marc a legitimate question.

    Marc,

Do you have GH and daytime talk show ratings for the week of November 5th? For November 12, GH beat the The View , Chew, and Talk in the demos. I’m interested in seeing how GH did for November 5.

It was similar Ronnie. GH is having a very good season at 2 p.m. ET.

      Ronnie,

To back up what Marc said, GH had a VERY slight decrease-17,000-over 11/5. But, all in all-GH has settled in nicely to the point where The Chew could very well be in trouble.

[...] reality show version of itself. Though the soap opera has been performing well this season — reportedly rising 18% in total viewers year-to-year (2.37 to 2.81 million) — the network is still on the [...]
