NBC Extends Law & Order: SVU Episode Order

December 7, 2012 by marcberman in Highlights with 0 Comments

SVU IS THE FIFTH LONGEST RUNNING SCRIPTED DRAMA IN PRIMETIME HISTORY

NBC has added two episodes to veteran Law & Order: SVU, bringing the current 14th season order to 24. By season end, SVU will have produced 319 hour-long episodes (which is still 137 short of the 456 episodes for parent Law & Order).

Historically, SVU is now the fifth longest running scripted network primetime drama behind Gunsmoke (1955-75), aforementioned Law & Order (1990-2010), Lassie (1954-71, plus 1971-74 in first-run syndication) and ER (1994-2009). Knots Landing and Bonanza were next after SVU at 13 ½ seasons each, followed by Dallas at 13, and the original Hawaii Five-O and NYPD Blue each at 12 each.
