CBS AND MGM PLAN PROPOSED NEW STRIPS
As we inch close to the NATPE 2013 conference (January 28-30 in Miami Beach), new first-run projects are beginning to surface. The highest profile, at present, remains upcoming new Sony Pictures talker The Queen Latifah Show. But CBS Television Distribution, which recently launched The Jeff Probst Show, is hoping to clear The Test, a one-hour talk show hosted by comedian-actor Kirk Fox, who will use the results from lie detector tests to settle paternity and relationship conflicts among his guests. The proposed project, which has no official launch group yet, comes from Jay McGraw’s Stage 29 Productions, the home of quiet hit The Doctors.

MGM Domestic Television Distribution, meanwhile, will return to the first-run strip formula care of Paternity Court, a hybrid of talk and court that will feature family lawyer Lauren Lake revealing the DNA test results of different guests in each episode. Paternity Court, to-date, has been picked up by stations across a multitude of groups including CBS, Capitol, Cox, Fisher, Journal, Local TV LLC, Meredith, Sinclair and Weigel.
