2012 was a busy year for TV Media Insights, especially for its editor-in-chief Marc Berman. Here were the memorable moments featuring Marc throughout the past year:
MARC AT NATPE – JANUARY 2012
At the start of 2012, Marc interviewed the hilarious Steve Harvey and, fresh off of “Dancing with the Stars,” Ricki Lake, who were both at the National Association of Television Program Executives promoting their then-upcoming talk shows.
MARC AFTER THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW – FEBRUARY 22, 2012
Wendy Williams invites Marc to her office to discuss her syndicated talk show, her career and her hair.
MARC ON “EXTRA”
Marc was featured several times on the syndicated magazine program, “Extra,” with his take on TV’s recent focus on “girl power,” on the fall 2012′s new TV shows, and on Ann Curry’s departure from NBC’s “Today.”
MARC REUNITES WITH MICHAEL BURGI
Via Skypecast in June, Marc discusses television with industry analyst Michael Burgi, formerly his co-worker at the now-defunct Mediaweek magazine.
MARC AT TCA PRESS TOUR – JULY-AUGUST 2012
Features guest appearances by his son Brandon (July 25), Tampa Bay Times TV critic Eric Deggans Follow @Deggans (July 27) and ShawConnect TV critic/TVW magazine editor Brent Furdyk Follow @BrentFurdyk (July 23, 24, 30, August 1 and 3)
MARC MAKES HIS PREDICTIONS FOR THE 2012-13 TV SEASON
In September, Marc gave his thoughts on what may be the “winners” and “losers” of the 2012-13 TV season.
“PARTNERS” STAR DAVID KRUMHOLTZ ATTACKS MARC ON TWITTER
Since the start of the 2012-13 season, Marc detailed the disappointing ratings of CBS’s lone new fall comedy. This resulted in an ongoing Twitter backlash at him directly from its star, formerly of the hit drama, “NUMB3RS.”
September 25-26, 2012
@marcberman Once again, you prove you have no idea what you are talking about pronouncing shows DOA. TV outsiders shouldn’t have t.v. blogs.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) September 26, 2012
Gotta tell it like it is, @davekrumholtz Unless a miracle, Partners will soon be off the air. Sorry. Nothing personal.
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) September 26, 2012
@davekrumholtz Hey Dave…you really shoot not “shoot” the messenger. If the ratings go up next week, I will be the first to say so.
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) September 26, 2012
October 9-10, 2012
@marcberman wrong again. Up a tenth, holding audience, not hurting 2BG, new show up against Juggernauts, tell the real story. Outsider.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@marcberman I shouldn’t let your “analysis” bother me. NEW NORMAL, MINDY, BEN & KATE, all back 9,… we beat them all. Tell that story.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 @marcberman Unprofessional is using a hot button term like “DOA” so that people like u will read their blog.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 @marcberman I’m on broadcast television where numbers are down across every network from last year. DON’T TELL ME MY BUSINESS.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 The show is actually not hurting 2BG. MNF starts at 8:30, not 8 so HIMYM doesn’t compete with it. CBS knows we are up against
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 a juggernaut. NO NEW SHOW has anywhere near the competition we have in that time slot. CBS also know this. @marcberman should
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 make that point, because that is the WHOLE story. Partners is NOT doing well, but it has a shot. @marcberman is misleading
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@florian64190 not sure. But I KNOW FOR A FACT, we ain’t being cancelled any time soon.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 9, 2012
@davekrumholtz Sad how I never heard one word from you when I praised Numb3rs for five seasons.
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) October 10, 2012
@marcberman I don’t recall “praise”.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 10, 2012
@davekrumholtz I labeled Numb3rs a “winner” in Monday’s newsletter for pretty much five years. You’re welcome.
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) October 10, 2012
October 16-17, 2012
@marcberman Partners numbers are up from last week, Marc. Our chances are Nil? Who are you? Kreskin?!
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 17, 2012
@davekrumholtz Kreskin??? I thought I was the only one who remembered him.Just calling it like it is, David.
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) October 17, 2012
@marcberman I think I’m a better authority, being that I am closer to the situation. You’ll still be predicting our cancellation in May.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) October 17, 2012
November 6-7, 2012
@marcberman Let me guess. When Partners gets the back 9, you will call it “shocking” and a “mistake”. Too predictable.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 6, 2012
@marcberman Tell the whole story, Marc. Don’t your subscribers deserve that?
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 6, 2012
@davekrumholtz What is the whole story?
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) November 7, 2012
@marcberman how can you call rooting for a show to fail a “ratings analysis”?
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 6, 2012
@davekrumholtz Why would I be “rooting for your show to fail”?
— Marc Berman (@marcberman) November 7, 2012
@marcberman I HAVE NO IDEA! But the “whole story” is that of EVERY new series on broadcast networks, only PARTNERS has stayed steady (cont.)
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcberman 2BG had a huge lead in last year which set it to sail. THE VOICE is a JUGGERNAUT. Almost all CBS shows are down across the board
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcberman HIMYM has dipped every week, yet PARTNERS holds. ON ANY OTHER NETWORK, PARTNERS IS ALREADY PICKED UP.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcberman YOU are basing your “analysis” on comparisons to2011, but you haven’t once mentioned THE VOICE wasn’t up against 2BG in 2011
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcberman THAT’s the whole story. As long as you continue to neglect it I have to assume that you are rooting for it to fail. Not sure why
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcberman DEADLINE.com reported our steady numbers this morning. I guess you are more of an “insider” than they are. Get on board!
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
@marcbermanSTOP comparing CBS 2011 Monday nights to CBS 2012 Monday nights and calling it a fair analysis.
— David Krumholtz (@DaveKrumholtz) November 7, 2012
November 16, 2012: CBS announces the cancellation of “Partners”
@davekrumholtz Just got the news, David. Better luck next time.No hard feelings I hope.
