SOLID RETURN FOR THE BIGGEST LOSER ON NBC
Ignited by 33.94 million viewers for the 7 p.m. half-hour portion of the Seattle at Washington NFL Football overrun (according to the fast affiliate results from Nielsen), it was an easy Sunday victory for Fox. And Fox’s regularly scheduled animated 8-10 p.m. block – The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and American Dad – benefited because of it.
In season-premiere news, the return of The Biggest Loser on NBC was on the map with 7.0 million viewers and a 2.9 rating/ 7 share among adults 18-49 from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, this was the reality competition’s highest rating in the demo since The Biggest Loser: Couples season finale on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. And, excluding sports and The Golden Globes, this was NBC’s highest adults 18-49 rating in the Sunday 9-11 p.m. block since May 22, 2011. Welcome back, Gillian!

Elsewhere, The Good Wife on CBS rose to its second most-watched episode this season, with 9.99 million viewers at 9 p.m.; while lead-out The Mentalist (which has dipped considerably since moving to Sunday) matched its second best rating among adults 18-49, with a 2.1 rating/6 share at 10 p.m. But The Good Wife still finished last in demo at 9 p.m. (1.8/ 4), and that may not be enough to warrant a fifth season renewal.
On ABC, Once Upon a Time returned with originals with a respectable 9.04 million viewers (#1) and a 3.1/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#2) from 8-9 p.m. But relocated Revenge, like The Mentalist, is not faring as well since moving to Sunday with 7.00 million viewers (#2) and a 2.3/ 5 in the demo at 9 p.m. Test runs for alphabet net sitcoms Happy Endings (Viewers: #3, 2.57 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3) and Don’t Trust the B___ in Apartment 23 (Viewers: #3, 2.23 million; #3, 0.9/ 2) flopped in the 10 p.m. hour.
