CBS WINS, BUT VEGAS CONTINUES TO LAG DEMOGRAPHICALLY
It was an easy Tuesday victory for CBS, with mega-hit NCIS at a whopping 22.34 million viewers at 8 p.m. ET (according to the fast affiliate results from Nielsen). But it was not a clean sweep, with Parenthood on NBC tops at 10 p.m. among adults 18-49, with a 1.9 rating/5 share in the demo. Worthy of positive mention for Parenthood was growth out of frosh comedy The New Normal (Viewers: #2, 3.23 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 3 at 9:30 p.m.) of 1.72 million viewers and 46 percent among adults 18-49. See you next season, Parenthood!

Freshman CBS drama Vegas won the 10 p.m. hour total viewers, with 11.05 million (out of 17.48 million for lead-in NCIS: Los Angeles). But a 1.6/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. (out of a 2.7/ 7 for NCIS: Los Angeles) does not bode well for a second season.

Elsewhere, six comedies in the 9-10 p.m. hour — Happy Endings and Don’t Trust the B____ in Apartment 23 on ABC; Go On and aforementioned The New Normal on NBC (which are not benefitting out of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers): and New Girl and The Mindy Project on Fox — continue to cannibalize each other. Private Practice on ABC, which concludes next Tuesday, has earned its cancellation stripes. And lackluster Emily Owens, M.D. on The CW (out of struggling sophomore Hart of Dixie) bids adieu on February 5.
