PENDING ABSENCE OF LARRY HAGMAN COULD TAKE ITS TOLL
The news was not all that positive for the sophomore season opener of Dallas, which opened on TNT in the Monday 9-11 p.m. block with a disappointing 2.98 million viewers (according to Nielsen). Expectations were high given the 6.9 million viewers that welcomed the Ewings back last June as well as the recent passing of Larry Hagman, which will result in the funeral of J.R. in March.
The season one finale was also significantly higher rated with 4.3 million viewers on August 8. And results among key adults 18-49 (1.02 million) and adults 25-54 (1.22 million) for the sophomore return were down by 27 percent and 32 percent, respectively, from the season one average.

It must be taken into account that it ran in the summer against reruns in the first season. Season two is now on a Monday Night running against new shows and popular new broadcasts like The Following.
Rizzoli & Isle had similar drops in ratings from their summer run and then their winter run.

Why in the world did they move it to Monday? Wasn’t it on Wednesday before? Sheesh.
