AN ESTIMATED 3.8 MILLION VIEWERS TUNED IN
Thursday’s highly publicized episode of Dr. Phil (the first of two parts), featuring Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the California man who allegedly is behind the Manti Te’O girlfriend hoax, rose to a 3.3 rating/9 share in the weighted metered market households (based on all 56 markets) on January 31. Comparably, this built from the lead-in average (2.1/ 6) by a stellar 57 percent, with a 14 percent increase from the prior four-week time period average. The year-ago time period average was a 2.8/ 7. Results among key women 25-54 (1.4/ 8) increased by 17 percent from the prior four-week time period average.
An estimated 3.8 million viewers tuned-in for the interview, which kicked-off the first day of the February 2013 sweeps period. The conclusion of the interview aired on Friday. The bottom-line: Growth is always good, but given the hype Dr. Phil could have even been higher.
