MANTI TE-O INTERVIEW FUELS FIVE-DAY AVERAGE
Ignited by the highly promoted sit-down with Manti Te’o and his parents, freshman Disney-ABC talker Katie, hosted by Katie Couric, earned its renewal stripes with a record 2.2 rating in households, 2.91 million viewers and a 1.1 among key women 25-54 (tie) for the week of January 21 (according to the Live Plus Same Day data from Nielsen). The Thursday episode with the Te’O family is now Katie’s most-watched episode to-date, with 3.79 million.
Season to-date, Katie has now led the pack of five new talkers for the 20th consecutive week, outdelivering No. 2 The Steve Harvey Show from NBCUniversal this week by 38 percent in households (2.2 vs. 1.6 rating) and 33 percent in total viewers (2.91 vs. 2.19 million).
At present, Katie, Steve Harvey and Trisha Goddard, also from NBCUniversal, are all confirmed to return in 2013-14, while Ricki Lake from Twentieth Television received its walking papers yesterday (http://tinyurl.com/adlxrjh). That leaves freshman daytime talker No. 5, The Jeff Probst Show from CBS Television Distribution, which is also expected to be voted off.
