ONSLAUGHT OF GENERIC CRIME SOLVERS TAKING ITS TOLL ON THE EYE NET
It was a clean Tuesday sweep for CBS, which comes as a result of the mega-hit 8-10 p.m. combination of “NCIS” and spin-off “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and the series-premiere of heavily promoted crime-solver “Golden Boy.” But 10.46 million viewers and a 1.8 rating/5 share among adults 18-49 for the launch of “Golden Boy” (according to the fast affiliate results from Nielsen) is no better than current occupant “Vegas.” And initial erosion out of lead-in “NCIS: Los Angeles” (Viewers: 16.81 million; A18-49: 2.9/ 8) of 6.35 million viewers and 38 percent in the demo is not positive. Since most new shows drop in the vicinity of 10 to 20 percent in week two (and “Golden Boy” moves into its regularly scheduled 9 p.m. Friday time period — out of “Undercover Boss” and into “Blue Bloods” — on March 8), consider the shelf-life for this cookie-cutter crime drama limited.
Note to CBS: enough with the generic police themed hours.

The season-premiere of “Celebrity Wife Swap” on ABC, meanwhile, was off to a promising return with a respectable second-place finish in both total viewers (7.00 million) and adults 18-49 (2.4/ 7) at 8 p.m.

Elsewhere, “The Taste” on ABC stumbled in its new 9 p.m. hour. “Body of Proof” on ABC at 10 p.m. remains older-skewing. NBC’s 9-11 p.m. combination of “Go On,” “The New Normal” and “Smash” is a shambles minus the 8-9 p.m. lead-in support from “The Voice.” (Yes…lead-in still matters). Only “New Girl” on Fox is resonating on Tuesday, and its performance is down significantly year-to-year. And week two of drama “Cult” on The CW was barely visible at 877,000 viewers and a 0.3/ 1 among adults 18-49. All together now: Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking.

Cult isn’t that very good watched a little bit of the plot stopped watching after 9:30PM since I couldn’t keep up and didn’t understand it at all. Cult is a goner after it’s run.
