This was by no means a rating high. Nor did it top The 54th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS (which averaged 39.9 million viewers with a 14.1 rating/33 share among adults 18-49 on Feb. 12). But ABC is reporting a still hefty 39.3 million viewers and an 11.7 rating in the demo for The 84th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday from 8:30-11:24 p.m., based on Nielsen’s Fast National ratings. Comparatively, this built from the year-ago telecast (37.9 million, according to the Live Plus Day data) by 1.4 million viewers, with its second largest audience since 2007.
Including Oscar’s Red Carpet Live pre-show and lead-out Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards, ABC’s Oscar-themed programming on Sunday reached an estimated 76.0 million unique viewers across the country (unduplicated total viewers watching six-minutes or more during the broadcast).

I’m glad it didn’t break any records. I’m boycotting ABC/DISNEY. It was competing against reruns on the other stations including cable so how big was the win really ?
