THE TALK ON CBS HITS A 2-MONTH HIGH
Based on the Live Plus Same Day ratings from Nielsen for the week of April 30, of positive note was Emmy nominated The Talk on CBS, with its largest audience (2.29 million) and best performance in households (1.8 rating/6 share) and women 18-34 (0.5/ 3) since the week of February 27. The View on ABC was the most-watched of the quartet, of course, with 3.25 million viewers, while canceled The Revolution, also on the alphabet net, dipped to 1.26 million — 49 percent below year-ago occupant One Life to Live.
As for The Chew versus year-ago occupant All My Children, take a look:
All My Children – Week of 5/02/11
Viewers: 2.33 million, Women 25-54: 1.1/ 7, Women 18-49: 0.7/ 5,
Women 18-34: 0.4/ 3
The Chew – Week of 4/30/12
Viewers: 2.08 million, Women 25-54: 0.9/ 6, Women 18-49: 0.6/ 4,
Women 18-34: 0.4/ 3
Percent Change – The Chew vs. All My Children
Viewers: -11, Women 25-54: -18, Women 18-49: -14,
Women 18-34: no change

Looks like The Chew is getting spewed back out to the trash!
Debbie JoyceMay 10, 2012 at 6:49 pm
According to Brian Frons’ cancellation announcement no one was watching the soaps. I guess the numbers reflect that even fewer “no ones” are watching the Chew now either.

Well said Debbie, I couldn’t have said it better myself!!! ;D

Since the Chew replaced All My Children, it has never had the same viewership as the cancelled soap and never will. It may cost less to produce but if people aren’t watching, what is the “up side”? ABC has alienated their viewers and advertisers aren’t getting their money’s worth. The daytime lineup should never have been messed with. Enough said!

I still can’t believe ANYONE watches the Chew. What a gawd awful name for a show………….Keep boycotting!
slj730May 10, 2012 at 7:18 pm
The Chew seems to be on a downward turn. I hope to see this trend continue. Boycott aside, it is just not something I would want to watch, DVR, or watch online. It is plain boring. The comparison to All My Children ratings from a year ago is proof.

My husband thinks I am crazy, when it comes to my love of the soaps but he was at his doctors office and The Spew came on, I get a phone call from him saying, “This show should be called “The Nasty”, he said the hosts were all talking at one time and everything was fried and they were sharing forks with each other.

ABC wake up!!! Open your eyes!!! We do want love in the afternoon, we want OLTL, we want romance, star-crossed lovers, mystery and family. We want holiday traditions with people we have loved watching for decades not seasons or years; decades of special moments that stole our hearts and even moments of pain, but nothing like the loss of OLTL being ripped away from us to save a few bucks. This is going down as one of the biggest mistakes in TV history!!! Now make one of the greatest comebacks in history and restore OLTL!!!!!!

The Chew needs to go lower. I can’t understand who watches this garbage anyways. I find lots of good drama on other networks. I only watch ABC for GH.

Thank you Marc for this update… Two things I want to say Firstly I can’t wait for the day that The Talk becomes Number 1 over the View for that would be another Victory for the soap fans indirectly, and secondly no surprise that The Chews rating are going downward continuously for how many times can they tell us how to boil an egg. The Chew will continue to show ABC that their judgement in cancelling the soaps was wrong…

You’re wrong. It won’t be a victory to soap fans if The Talk becomes #1 over The View. On the contrary, it will be an even bigger major blow to soap fans.
The Talk replaced a soap opera. The View didn’t. If The Talk becomes #1, that will prove that a talk show can suceed in the timeslot of a soap opera and that ABC was right for cancelling the soaps.
Boycott The Talk like The Chew.

Boycott The Chew as it should suffer the same fate as The Revolution. I don’t watch any talk show that has taken the place of a soap..that includes The Talk as it is airing when As The World Turns aired in my city. I only watch GH on ABC and other shows on other cable networks. I will not watch any show on ABC, CBS, or NBC which has taken the place of their recently canceled soaps.

And so the pattern continues-our next target MUST be GMA2. As always, thanks Marc

Thanks,
Sean

The “alphabet” network needs to add some letters back in — AMC and OLTL. I will continue to boycott ABC/D except for the GH hour. How low do the ratings have to go before they wake up?
mary22May 14, 2012 at 11:27 am
I do not watch The Chew….Will continue to support GH only! What is is going to take for them to wake up and realize what a huge mistake that they made! I want my soaps back!
club425May 14, 2012 at 12:59 pm
So people weren’t watching soaps??? Well less people are watching the poorly produced, overly hyped, nonsense that has replaced the soaps. Great decision ABC.
bcoleman13May 15, 2012 at 1:43 pm
I only watch General Hospital on ABC and that is it as I am still devastated beyond words at the loss of OLTL! I am comforted that some of OLTL cast and storyline is on GH but still wish ABC would just reinstate the Soap! I would fully support ABC if they would either give us back OLTL and keep GH or release the rights to the soaps! All would be forgiven from me for the most part. In the meantime I will support the other networks as I no longer trust ABC – except for GH they do not exist in this household! Thank you!

The flat/falling ratings of the Chew is no surprise to anyone, perhaps other than the suits at ABC. People are tired of watching the hosts make silly faces while they eat fried food – it’s disgusting. As entertainment moves more and more towards online viewing, no one will sit down at their computer to watch an hour of this crap (just like no one watched the Revolution). We would, however, sit at computers to watch AMC or OLTL or GH…because they are wonderful stories about families we love. To those here who have said to continue the boycott against KC…absolutely! One down and two to go!
