Today, the United States of America celebrates its 236th birthday on Independence Day 2012.
We welcome you to participate in our daily ratings game contest, the TV Media Insights Daily Game (link) to guess three events that are featured on this holiday annually: first, it’s the famous competition of food consumption at New York’s Coney Island, known as the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, airing on ESPN. Later at night, the skies of Manhattan and Boston will be lit up with fireworks, as Macy’s presents its Spectacular on NBC while CBS again features the music of the Boston Pops Orchestra.
Personally, my family will always treasure one special July 4th memory. It was on July 4, 1983, my parents and I sat in the upper deck at the old Yankee Stadium to witness Yankees pitcher Dave Righetti throw a no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox.
Please stay safe and sound on the roads today. Enjoy the holiday, everyone!
