THE TALK ON CBS CONTINUES TO PICK UP STEAM

The View on ABC was the standout of the four, of course, but 3.22 million viewers for the week of May 21 was 13 percent below the 3.68 million one year earlier, according to Nielsen. Female demo losses were as much as 16 percent among women 25-54 (958,000 to 809,000). The Talk on CBS continued to trail, but it narrowed the gap year-to-year with growth of 16 percent in total viewers (2.00 to 2.32 million) and 17 percent in women 25-54 (560,000 to 653,000). And The Chew on ABC remained on the downside from year-ago occupant All My Children as follows:

All My Children – Week of 5/23/11
Viewers: 2.40 million, Women 25-54: 714,000, Women 18-49: 528,000, Women 18-34: 165,000

The Chew – Week of 5/21/12
Viewers: 2.18 million, Women 25-54: 580,000, Women 18-49: 419,000, Women 18-34: 163,000

Percent Change – The Chew vs. All My Children
Viewers: – 9, Women 25-54: -19, Women 18-49: -21, Women 18-34: – 1

As for canceled The Revolution on ABC, 1.31 million viewers this week was 47 percent below One Life to Live one year earlier (2.50 million). Good luck, Good Afternoon America!

Good Afternoon America will need a miracle to succeed. Faithful OLTL viewer have proven that nothing in the time slot previously occupied by their show is worth watching!

I think good afternoon america will do well and I’m surprised they didn’t think of it sooner.

You are entitled to your opinion, of course-but if you’ve taken a serious look at the ratings, GMA2 will have just as much trouble as the Rev did…

Thank you Marc again for this article and for giving me the opportunity to do a “Happy Dance” ABC is doing a wonderful job in decreasing in their ratings every week. I am also pleased at the same time as The View drops The Talk rises. I have to think by now they know the joke is on them and the Soap Opera Fans were right.

My wife’s show is doing pretty good, huh? Of course, we air those popular daytime dramas leading in to the successful talk show. To those posting here, do you have any input on how each of those shows are doing with its stars and plot lines? We’re always looking for feedback from our loyal fans and viewers on this comprehensive TV Media Insights website.

Your wife’s show is doing good :)I watch it everyday :) As for Y&R I think it is doing a BRILLIANT job !! I have no complaints about Y&R :) B&B is doing good also !! I watch them both also. I watch CBS from 12:30-3:00 everyday !! Then I watch my General Hospital at 3:00 :) I did response to you on the other article about the soaps but you might have missed it :)

Very funny, Les, as if people would really think it was you. CBS is probably cooking the books anyway-as no true soap fan would watch The Talk

I don’t care what they put in this time slot or how many ex-soap stars that appear on GMA ………….I WILL NOT WATCH ANYTHING THAT REPLACES A SOAP OPERA !!!! One o’clock until four o’clock is “SOAP TIME” and always will be !!!!

I will not watch Good Afternoon America or The Talk as they air in time slots that were once occupied by soaps on bothe ABC and CBS. However, I will give CBS some credit for having sense enough to keep two soaps as lead-ins for The Talk. ABC should watch and learn from CBS.

I WILL NOT WATCH ANYTHING ON ABC IN THE AFTERNOON EXCEPT FOR GH !!! Thank you Marc for your article :) Always doing a great job !!

If the ABC soap fans have anything to say about it, GAA will follow the same path as the Revolution. The current trend in tv programming is way out of whack. Too much talk and “reality” and most viewers are very tired of both. Soaps are a wonderful diversion from everyday life and the caliber of actors/actresses on soaps is top notch. Except for watching General Hospital this summer, I will be spending my tv hours on cable channels. At least they appreciate good dramas.

Why don’t they just get rid of those two shows now and put AMC and OLTL back on? ABC should see now that we want the soaps, and not these stupid talk shows.

I have no interest in Good Afternoon, America or anything else on ABC except for General Hospital.

Thank you, Marc, for keeping us up-to-date! I will continue to boycott ABC/D except for the General Hospital hour!

Thank you Marc! You are a real hero to many Daytime fans for providing info & un-spun #s seldom-seen anywhere but right here on TVMI! Since ABC is going to play time-slot roulette in the Fall, could you sometimes give us comparisons of OLTL vs. Chew? If this is, as Anne Sweeney proclaims, about “eyeballs,” I’d like to know how many more eyeballs ABC woud have with either AMC or OLTL in Chew’s timeslot. Thanks!

ABC/Disney made a HUGE mistake cancelling One Life To Live and All My Children. It has affected their Primetime Ratings, as well as their Daytime ratings. Good Afternoon America will do as well as the Revolution, which is not good at all. They need to bring these shows back by popular demand, or release the rights so they can be seen on another channel. Thank you Marc for your continued support!

Thanks for your article Marc. I will continue to boycott everything on ABC day and night, except for GH. Hope the View continues to lose viewers.

The fact that The Chew has NEVER beaten AMC’s numbers, says more than I could say at this point…

    • http://www.tvmediainsights.com/members/amcoltl6870/ Troy Turner

I forgot my manners here, but thanks Marc, as always for having our back on this…

i look forward to these reports so i can see just how bad these replacemnt shows are doing i will not watch gaa or anything else in place of my soaps, what is it going to take for these idiots to cut thier losses n give us back the shows we will support, until that day i will continue to boycott abc

  • http://www.tvmediainsights.com/members/theresa48/ Theresa48

Thanks Marc for making my day once again..=) GAA will fail also..us fans will see to it. And as a true boycotter I never watch The Talk. Don’t want to support any talk shows that would give stations an excuse to produce more.
