More Erosion for Bethenny in Day 3

Dominant The View on ABC averaged 2.82 million viewers for the week of June 4, which dropped by six percent from the year-ago week, according to Nielsen. Demos were also first, as usual, but also on the downside. Second-place The Talk on CBS had plenty to boast about with growth of 24 percent in total viewers, and as much as 31 percent among women 18-34. But The Chew on ABC continues to trail year-ago occupant All My Children, and canceled The Revolution sunk to a series-low 1.07 million – down 49 percent from One Life to Live.

Here are the results for the surviving trio:

The View (ABC) – 11 a.m. ET
Viewers: 2.82 million (-6 percent), W18-49: 591,000 (-15), W25-54: 723,000 (-17), W18-34: 218,000 (-8)

The Talk (CBS) – 2 p.m. ET
Viewers: 2.29 million (+24), W18-49: 484,000 (+16), W25-54: 651,000 (+26), W18-34: 164,000 (+31)

The Chew (ABC) – 1 p.m. ET
Viewers: 2.08 million (-10), W18-49: 384,000 (-24), W25-54: 491,000 (-26), W18-34: 152,000 (- 6)

Here’s hoping the View and the Chew keep dropping in the ratings. If ABC hadn’t cancelled both All My Children and One Life To Live, the Network’s ratings would have been much better. The Revolution is gone – let’s hope the Chew is next.

  • Debbie Joyce

Let’s hope ABC is not happy that The Chew continues to draw in less viewers than All My Children. This should be a clear wake-up call that daytime viewers prefer scripted drama in that time slot.

  • Rob

I hate The Talk, The Chew and The Revolution. Cancel all of these stupid talk shows or move them in the morning.

Afternoons should only be for soap operas and nothing else.

  • susanmz

Thanks for keeping us updated on the numbers, Marc. Love to see ABC losing viewers.

I am happy to see The Chew continue to lose viewers. Please continue to boycott this show which should be removed from ABC’s daytime lineup. I would love to see all of these shows which have taken the place of the soaps cancelled and the afternoon lineup once again filled with the soaps which rightly belong there.

Thank you so much, Marc, for keeping the viewers informed of the ratings.

Hopefully soon, ABC will see what they have done is wrong, and that we can get our shows back. Also can’t wait to show that we don’t want GAA or Katie’s new show as well.

Thank you again Marc for the Ratings Update. ABC you said we couldn’t do it. My how the Might Can Fall.

  • camille

Meant to say Mighty Can Fall

Thanks for the article Marc & keeping us updated on daytime ratings. As you said The Talk is moving up in rating, I do watch the show. When ABC moves GH to 2:00 in the afternoon in the fall I think The Talk might have some problems. Also I read that ABC renewed The Chew for another season. True or False ? For all the articles I’ve read, ABC/Disney is not going bring back the soaps, Do you know Marc how long ABC renewed GH for ? I’m glad the replacements shows ratings are down & The View is down. Also I think The Talk is just another View show but I like The Talk better :)

    • Troy Turner

Both GH and The Chew have been renewed for 1 year. We’ll kill the Chew too, itll just take a little longer

  • LindseyH

Thank you Marc! I think even more important than ratings going down for the Spew and the View is the numbers of viewers going to CBS! It appears that our boycott is making a difference! I will continue to boycott ABC except for the General Hospital hour! Go team!

  • Troy Turner

One wonders whether the Rev will dip below a million before it bows out. As always, Marc, thanks again

Thanks, Marc, for the updates. I still can’t believe ABC isn’t getting this; the Revolution was terrible, the Chew keeps falling and still they persist in trying to shove yet another talk show down our throats. There is no host (special or otherwise), topic or guest that will make me tune into GAA(g) or Katie Couric’s show. GH is the only ABC show any set in my house is tuned to..not even for the Oscars this year. First time in 4 decades I didn’t watch…that’s the kind of fans our shows have ABC…and we’re not going away!

  • misspebz1213

When will ABC realize what we have been telling them? We don’t want talk shows in the afternoon!! We want our Soaps, and nothing but our Soaps. I have never watched the Rev, rarely ever watched The View, and never watched the Talk, even though I love Leah Remini and Sharon Osborne.
