“Judge Judy” Tops Syndication Rankings

“Judge Judy” from CBS Television Distribution kicked-off season 18 tops in all of syndication, with a 7.1 household rating for the week of September 9 (according to Nielsen). Comparably, that was 13 percent above last year’s opener. “Dr. Phil,” also from CTD, led in talk with a 2.9. And that was 16 percent above the year-ago season-premiere.

In other highlights, household ratings in returning talk were on the plus side care of the season premieres of “Ellen DeGeneres” from Warner Bros. (2.6: +63 percent from one year earlier), “Dr. Oz” from Sony Pictures Television (2.0: + 5 percent), “Steve Harvey” from NBCUniversal (1.4: +17 percent) and “Rachael Ray” from CBS (1.3: + 8 percent), which rose to a six-week high. Veteran CTD game shows “Wheel of Fortune” (6.1) and “Jeopardy” (5.3), meanwhile, rose by 3 and 10 percent, respectively.

In freshman series premiere news, “The Arsenio Hall Show” from CTD opened with a 1.1 in households and a 0.8 among key adults 25-54, which finished second overall in late night talk in the demo (behind “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and tied with “Jimmy Kimmel” on ABC). In daytime. CTD’s “The Test” was modest at a 0.6, while initial weekly results for “Bethenny,” hosted by Bethenny Frankel from Warner Bros., was unavailable to do reprocessing by Nielsen.
