DOMINANT FOX BENEFITS OPPOSITE REPEATS ON CBS

Fox took center stage opposite all repeats on CBS, with the Eye net dipping to third overall in total viewers and fourth among adults 18-49. Episode two of Kevin Bacon drama The Following held up on Fox, with a dominant 9.95 million and a 3.3 rating/8 share among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. ET (according to the fast affiliate results from Nielsen). And that placed it ahead of lead-in Bones, with strong retention from last week’s debut and growth over year-ago occupant Alcatraz. Let’s see what happens when competing 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly on CBS are back in originals next week (out of the season-premiere of Rules of Engagement at 8:30 p.m.).

Both The Carrie Diaries on The CW and Deception on NBC, the night’s other pair of new midseason entries, picked up some steam from one week earlier. But The Carrie Diaries is not much of any improvement over recent 90210 in the hour (or Gossip Girl one year earlier). And Deception on NBC still finished third in total viewers behind repeats of competing Castle on ABC and Hawaii Five-O on CBS (with a bland second-place finish among adults 18-49). And Deception pales in comparison to former (and returning) time period occupant Revolution (which benefited out of The Voice, of course).

Elsewhere, The Bachelor on ABC continues to hold an advantage over The Biggest Loser on NBC, which both air from 8-10 p.m. But The Biggest Loser is also a competitive option among adults 18-49. And relocated 90210 on The CW was barely on the map with 764,000 viewers and a 0.3/ 1 in the demo. Time to swing the axe, The CW!
