HANDICAPPING THE 21 NEW NETWORK SERIES
The odds of survival are in for the entire crop upcoming crop of network fall entries, with our predictions (1-1, the best; to 10-1, the worst) based on several benchmarks including:
1. The time period and competition
2. Lead-in (if not an 8 p.m. ET show)
3. Recent and year-ago time period results
4. The overall position of the network
5. Potential demographic profile
6. Potential social media presence
7. Buzz factor, if any
Unfortunately, nothing seems like a sure thing with the best odds, 2-1, awarded to drama Vegas on CBS and the worst, 10-1, to drama Emily Owens, M.D. on The CW. Sorry Mama Meryl Streep, but this show with daughter Mamie Gummer might fare better on a cable net like ABC Family or Lifetime.
Here is the list (broken out by network and in the order of the time period):

OTHER NETWORK NEWS
CBS Cancels 3
CBS has pulled dating/relationship hour 3 off the air after only two telecasts, and will air drama repeats in its place in the Sunday 9 p.m. hour until The Good Wife returns in the fall. The show debuted Thursday, July 26 with just 2.28 million viewers and a 0.8 rating/2 share among adults 18-49, and the second…and final…telecast was low-rated this past Sunday.

Weekly Ratings Scorecard
Led by the Opening Ceremony and nights one and two of the London Olympics, it was NBC’s week, of course. And it will be for the next two weeks. NBC beat the four competing networks combined by double-digit percentages, with its highest rated week, excluding the week of the Super Bowl, February 2010 during the Vancouver Olympics, according to the fast affiliate results. ABC, CBS, Fox and The CW each slipped by double-digits opposite the significantly increased competition.
Through the first three nights of the London Olympics, NBC was averaging 35.8 million viewers, the best through the first weekend for any Summer Olympics in history (since the 1960 Rome Olympics, the first televised Olympics). It is, to-date, 1.4 million more viewers than the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (34.4 million) and five million more viewers than 2008 Beijing Olympics (30.6 million). It’s the Story of a New Brady Bunch
Classic TV clan The Brady Bunch could be traveling the comeback trail…again…in a multi-camera comedy produced by Vince Vaughn for CBS TV Studios. The original sitcom aired on ABC, of course, from 1969-74, and there has been countless continuations including…deep breathe…three scripted spinoffs (The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, The Brady Brides, The Bradys), one animated half hour, two theatricals, three made-for TV movies, a reality series, stage plays and musicals, countless specials and reunions, fan sites, and books.
On this updated version of the extended clan, a now divorced Bobby Brady (who we last saw miraculously take a few steps after being crippled), which children of his own, is remarried to a woman who also has kids, and together they share a child. Could there even be a Tiger (or a new Fluffy?). Raising Hope’s Mike Mariano will write the script for the project and executive produce along with Lloyd Schwartz, son of the late and aforementioned Sherwood Schwartz. Vaughn, Victoria Vaughn and Peter Billingsley also exec produce through Vaughn’s Wild West Picture Show Productions company.
