TCA SUMMER PRESS TOUR
Cable – Day One
Unlike network, cable is a variety of panels and events with different networks each day, and yesterday featured a Current TV breakfast during a taping of talker The Stephanie Miller Show. Next were sessions on two Ovation series, A Chance To Dance (featuring Nigel and Simon Lythgoe) and Johnny Cash: Song By Song; followed by sessions on BBC America series Richard Hammond’s Crash Course, The Hour, The Spies of Warsaw and Copper. A TVOne working lunch featured comedy The Rickey Smiley Show, documentary Save My Son and reality-driven R&B Divas.
HBO is always the biggest draw during the cable portion, and the paid service immediately announced that the second seasons of Enlightened and Girls will begin in January 2013.
In other news at HBO, a scripted for a potential big-screen version of Entourage is in the process of being written; Curb Your Enthusiasm could return if Larry David chooses to continue after a movie he is producing and starring in for the cable net; a new documentary on the Rolling Stones will air this fall; and Ethel, an original documentary from Rory Kennedy focused on her mother Ethel Kennedy, will debut on Thursday, October 18. In the movie department is The Girl, which tells the tale of director Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) and actress Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller). It debuts on Friday, October 12.
BBC America to Co-Produce The Musketeers
BBC America will co-produce The Musketeers with BBC One, a new drama set in the 17th century that will tell the tale of a group of soldiers assigned to protect their king and country. Penned by Adrian Hodges (My Life with Marilyn), The Musketeers will debut in 2004 on BBC America’s “Dramaville” programming block. Ten episodes have been ordered.

Tippi Hedren on Alfred Hitchcock
One of the classic figures in the world of cinema historically is Alfred Hitchcock, of course. And the “Master of Suspense” was known for his obsession with icy blonde leading ladies. One such actress was Tippi Hedren, who headlined two Hitchcock flicks, The Birds in 1963 and Marnie in 1964, and she was present at HBO’s portion of the Summer Press Tour to discuss her troubled relationship with the famed director for upcoming movie The Girl.

Ethel and Rory Kennedy Discuss Upcoming HBO Documentary
Legendary 84-year old Ethel Kennedy was at The Press Tour with filmmaker daughter Rory Kennedy in a session focused on upcoming HBO documentary, Ethel. Reluctant to initially tackle the project, her mother’s first interview in 25 years was the deciding factor.
