There were four series premieres: Perry Mason in 1957, Adam-12 in 1968, NYPD Blue in 1993, and Will & Grace in 1998. Both Perry Mason and Adam 12 were revived at a later time, with The New Perry Mason airing briefly in the fall of 1973, and Adam 12 in first-run syndication from 1989-91. Also on this day were Milton Berle inheriting the hosting chair on classic variety hour The Texaco Star Theater in 1948 (which became The Milton Berle Show), and the launch of NFL Monday Night Football on ABC in 1970.
