Prospect Park Nixes Online Version of All My Children

Prospect Park Nixes Online Version of All My Children

November 14, 2011 by Marc Berman in Highlights with 12 Comments

Fans were optimistic that long-running daytime serial All My Children, which was replaced by talker The Chew, would continue online.  But media group Prospect Park, which had planned to continue both All My Children and soon-to-conclude One Life to Live on its new Internet channel The Online Network, will only move forward with One Life to Live.  Part of that decision could be a result of only two of the AMC actors to-date, Cameron Mathison and Lindsay Hartley, signing on for the proposed online continuation.

There is no official start date at present, meanwhile, when One Live to Live will debut on The Online Network.  Its final episode on ABC is in January.

The really sad thing about this is that Prospect Park made the producers and writers of All My Children change the original ending that they had planned for All My Children. By all accounts, the original ending was supposed to be very good, and honor the show’s history, but instead, the producers went with a cliffhanger ending that was intended to help Prospect Park continue storylines, and explain why some characters were not still on the show. This change upset many loyal viewers, even before the news broke about Prospect Park not bringing All My Children to the web.

What a shame. really. I hate to see institutions like All My Children end like this.

    Please keep AMC.

I never expected AMC to go forward online but the ending that we were given is something I will never be able to forget..we got more than gypped we got screwed!

This is terrible news! All My Children is/was a great soap, and despite liking One Life to Live, All My Children had a different quality — a brightness and underlying sense of fun — not found on other soaps. Prospect Park has angered and disappointed a legion of potential viewers.

Why go through all the press releases saying you would save this show, when in fact you had no intention of doing so? I have been waiting for the reboot and now it won’t happen!!! I’m sure you are aware of what the soap fans have been doing in regards to ABC ratings. It is safe to say that your online version of One Life to Live could meet the same fate. But that is probably what you are hoping for. Then you can say”We tried but it just wasn’t meant to be” I have signed up for TOLN and haven’t received any emails as of yet. Soap fans have been contacting sponsors to boycott ABC/Disney. There are numerous support groups on facebook, we are a very loyal group. Wish you lots of luck in the future, but I won’t be a part of it without AMC!!!!

I think deep down a lot of people thought this is what was going to happen. My opinion is if they only do OLTL it will tank also.
They say only 2 have signed but then we kept hearing they havent approached anyone else. So what is the true? It is getting as bad as ABC was and not letting anyone know what was going on.
I also want to know how the cliff hanger turned out. If nothing else get them all back for just a few episodes so you give the fans the satisfaction of a true ending to this historic show. AMC was the first to approach subjects and my day is not complete now without it.

How sad that you have nixed the deal to bring All My Children onto online TV. I along with millions of others are VERY unhappy with your decision. You made a promise to the long time fans of AMC that the show would be continued in January How can you build up our hopes just to end up squashing them. . You are going to with One life to Live ……. why not with continue with AMC too?. This is NOT acceptable! You ended the last show in a cliffhanger………. now we will never know what happened at Adam’s house after JR’s gun was fired…… This is no way to treat the loyal fans of AMC who have watched the show for over 40 years. That is a very stupid move. We all had faith in you to bring our soap back and were looking forward to seeing all of our favorite characters/friends again in January. Get on the stick and work on getting the characters to return. This is something you should have been doing ever since they announced the demise of AMC on ABC. Please go back to your original plan and put our beloved AMC back on your programming!
