Solid Debut for “The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man” on History

History Channel, home to hit reality series “Pawn Stars,” “Swamp People,” and “American Pickers,” now has another hit on its hands: “The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man.”

The series premiere of “The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man” debuted on Monday, August 5 to an average of 3.2 million total viewers, 1.6 million Adults 25-54 and 1.5 million Adults 18-49 in the 10-11 p.m. timeslot, according to Nielsen. The series was the top program in all of cable in the 10 – 11 p.m. time period among total viewers.

“The Legend of Shelby the Swamp Man,” a spin-off from another hit History Channel reality series, “Ax Men,” centers around Shelby “Swamp Man” Stanga, the larger-than-life character who lives and logs in southern Louisiana.
