A CROWDED MIXTURE OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE RESULTS
CBS was the most-watched network on May 6, the first Sunday of the month, with 9.29 million viewers; while ABC was tops in adults 18-49, with a 2.4 rating/7 share, according to Nielsen. Second in total viewers was ABC at 7.63 million, followed by NBC (5.78) and Fox (4.09), whose animated block could use a shot of adrenaline. No. 2 in the demo was CBS (2.0/ 6), followed by Fox (1.9/ 5) and NBC (1.3/ 4), which continues to lag as a result of a mere 0.7/ 2 in adults 18-49 for older skewing 8 p.m. drama Harry’s Law. To cancel or not to cancel…that is the question.
There was an abundance of original programming on Sunday, including a healthy performance for the two-hour season ender of The Amazing Race on CBS; and a respectable Once Upon a Time and the second to-last episode of Desperate Housewives on ABC. But the two-hour conclusion of the residents of Wisteria Lane on May 13 will not break any records; and GCB at 10 p.m. (either the season or series ender) is not catching on. Elsewhere, Celebrity Apprentice on NBC (featuring the double firings of subdued Teresa Guidice and obnoxious Lisa Lampanelli) remained on the year-to-year downside; while recent entry NYC 22 on CBS is a goner. Come back, David Caruso…the Eye net needs you.
