The NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Game (Women 18-34: 6.8/23; Men 18-34: 9.5/23; Women 18-49: 7.0/20; Men 18-49: 11.3/33) featuring Duke winning their fifth national title in school history with a 68-63 win over Wisconsin gave CBS Monday night victories across all key figures: total viewers (18.77 million), adults 18-49 (5.8 rating/18 share), adults 18-34 (5.0/19) and adults 25-54 (6.4/17). Comparatively, it increased by 33 percent in viewership from the year-ago game (21.3 million; UConn/Kentucky) and was the most-watched NCAA basketball national championship game in 18 years (28.4 million; Arizona/Kentucky in 1997).

It marks the end of 34 consecutive years CBS will have aired this final title game. Starting in 2016, the National Championship will be televised on TBS and every even-numbered year afterward thru to 2024; CBS will get it back in 2017 and in every odd-numbered year thereafter.

The entire 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament averaged 11.3 million total viewers, up 8 percent from 2014 (10.5 million viewers), and is the highest average viewership for the NCAA Tournament in 22 years (12.7 million; 1993).

Despite airing directly opposite the National Championship, ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” (Women 18-34: 1.9/7; Men 18-34: 0.8/3; Women 18-49: 2.9/8; Men 18-49: 1.2/4) and NBC’s “The Voice” (Women 18-34: 2.2/8; Men 18-34: 1.2/4; Women 18-49: 3.5/10; Men 18-49: 2.3/7) held up well considering its competition.

The 8 p.m. hour of USA’s “WWE Raw” was Monday’s most-watched cable program in total viewers and scored a cable prime time best in adults 18-49. The inaugural season of AMC drama “Better Call Saul” closed out with a slight lift from its prior Monday night (March 30).
