ABC was the clear winner on Sunday night with the 87th Annual Academy Awards hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. But the three-and-a-half-hour telecast drew the lowest Oscars viewership since 2009 (an average of 36.31 million watched that event hosted by another famed Broadway musical headliner, Hugh Jackman).

Opposite Oscars red carpet coverage on ABC and E! and the start of the Oscars ceremony, the 90-minute “60 Minutes” tribute to the late Bob Simon on CBS drew 6.37 million total viewers.

Despite airing directly opposite The Oscars, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” — again, the week’s No. 1 cable program — drew 13.438 million total viewers in Live+Same Day figures; it rose 9 percent from the week-ago telecast. E!’s annual premier event, “Live From The Red Carpet: The 2015 Academy Awards” drew an average of 3.295 million total viewers from 5:30-8:30 p.m. ET.
