Classic game show “I’ve Got a Secret” debuted on CBS in 1952 with Garry Moore as host. The original version ran until April 3, 1967 (switching to a color format in 1966). In 1970, former baseball player Jim Bouton’s controversial book “Ball Four” is published, which was spun-off into a short-lived CBS sitcom of the same name in the fall of 1976.

“NBA Finals” Rule; “The Voice” Season-Ender Solid

ABC 9.7/16
NBC 8.9/14
CBS 4.4/ 7
Fox 3.1/ 5
CW 0.5/ 1

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Wednesday 6/20/12:
NBC: +147, CW: +25, ABC: +10, CBS: – 4, Fox: -21

———-

-Winners:
“The NBA Finals,” Game 6 (ABC), “America’s Got Talent” (NBC), “The Voice” (NBC)

-Losers (excluding repeats):
Nothing…CBS and The CW were in all repeats.

———-

Ratings Breakdown:
“The NBA Finals” ruled the Tuesday ratings roost, but an also stellar performance for the season-finale of “The Voice” on NBC proves there is plenty of room for an audience on the broadcast networks in the non-traditional TV season.

Game six of “The NBA Finals” (Heat 103, Spurs 100) scored an estimated 12.3 rating/20 share in the overnights for the primetime portion from 9-11 p.m. And the 12:13 a.m. ET finish time will certainly be beneficial when the live plus same day data is released this afternoon. Expect in the vicinity of 18-million viewers with a projected 7-7.5 adult 18-49 rating.

Earlier in the evening on ABC was another 8 p.m. edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (#3: 4.1/ 7), followed by the “NBA Countdown” pre-game at a third-place 4.5/ 8 at 8:30 p.m. Both performances, of course, are also approximate due to the live nature of lead-out “The NBA Finals.”

“The Voice,” meanwhile, concluded its season with an above average 9.7/16 from 9-11 p.m. And that, comparably, built from an 8-9 p.m. edition of summer favorite “America’s Got Talent” (#1: 7.4/13) by 24 percent. Note to NBC: The arrivals of Heidi Klum and Mel B this season is a seamless fit.

Elsewhere, CBS populated this third Wednesday in June with encores of “NCIS” (#2: 5.6/ 9), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#3: 4.3/ 7) and “Person of Interest” (#3: 3.5/ 6), which has replaced Saturday bound “Brooklyn D.A.” Two-hours of veteran “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox scored a 3.1/ 5 in the overnights, which was 29 percent below year-ago occupants “Hell’s Kitchen” (4.0/ 7 on 6/19/12) and “Masterchef” (3.8/ 6). And The CW aired repeats of “Hart of Dixie,” which moves into the Monday 8 p.m. hour this fall, and a repeat of “America’s Next Top Model: College Edition” (#5: 0.4/ 1), which really needs to take a break at this point.

Weekly Ratings Scorecard
Led by games three through five of Miami vs. San Antonio on the “NBA Finals,” it was a clean sweep for ABC for the week of June 10. Year-to-year, however, the alphabet net slipped by minor percentages while second-place NBC was on the minor plus side due to extending the current season of “The Voice” and the game one match-up between Boston and Chicago on “The Stanley Cup Finals” on Wednesday (which averaged 6.36 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/9 share among adults 18-49, according to the live plus same day data).

Elsewhere, “America’s Got Talent” remains a top summer draw for NBC. The debut of NBC singing competition “The Winner Is…” benefitted out of “The Voice” on Monday at 10 p.m. ET with an initial 6.30 million viewers (#15 overall) and a 1.8 rating/5 share among adults 18-49 (tied for #14). And recent entries “Mistresses” on ABC, “Brooklyn DA” on CBS (which is shifting from Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET to Saturday at 9 p.m.), “The American Baking Competition” on CBS and Fox duo “The Goodwin Games” and “Does Someone Have to Go?” continue to underwhelm.
