LABOR DAY WEEKEND TAKES ITS TOLL

CBS was the most-watched network for the sluggish week of August 27, according to Nielsen, but a depressed 4.88 million viewers on average is certainly nothing extraordinary. Fox led in the three key demos (adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34), building by double-digit percentages from one year earlier thanks to Gordon Ramsey. But erosion was the visible observation elsewhere. And the overall network averages were not helped by coverage of The Republican National Convention in the 10 p.m. hour from Tuesday through Thursday.

Keep in mind, of course, that this week included Labor Day weekend (hence low HUT levels). What follows are the results by network (with change versus the comparable year-ago period in parentheses), followed by the top 20 shows in both total viewers and adults 18-49.
